good morning, sunshine!

i’m not going to lie, i’ve been sporting a bfa (kristen speak for bad f*cking attitude) this week.  general bad mood — sick of winter and the cold and the grey, letting people get me down, and generally, boo hoo, blah blah.  the bfa was in full effect when i went to bed last night, and it was still hanging around when i opened my eyes this morning.

when i got up and walked into the living room, though, the sun was shining through the windows, and as i sat down to the good old mac book, several things were waiting to start my day off on a good note.  since they turned my bfa around, i thought i’d share them with you.  :)

first, i had received an awesome e-mail from my dear friend, amy, who just returned from the sxsw music festival in austin, texas. (picture of amy enjoying sxsw at right.)  you may remember amy’s guest post from a few months back when she was down in austin for austin city limits.  amy rocks, and i love hearing about her travels, and music/restaurant/etsy/etc. finds. when amy writes me an email about her adventures, she fills it with details, fun facts and links she finds inspiring. all of this is exactly what i found in my inbox this morning in regards to amy’s trip to sxsw.  in the midst of all the awesome details amy shared with me, was that she had run into a girl she went to high school with, jessica skinner, who’s now an austin-based music writer and event planner.  amy linked me to her website, where i found a page of mixes she had created and had up for download.  i’ve been jamming out to “getting there” ever since.  i love (LOVE!) music mixes (make me one and i’ll love you forever), and i raise my glass to anyone who puts a bunch of mixes together and throws them up on the web for all to enjoy.  thanks to jessica for doing just that, and to amy for leading me to them.

once i had some good tunes going, it was time for my sunday morning ritual — postsecret.  for those of you not familiar with postsecret (i’ve been shocked lately to discover there are lots of you!), postsecret is an ongoing community art project created by frank warren.  the concept of the project is that people make a homemade postcard, share a secret on the postcard that they’ve never revealed to anyone, and then mail it to frank (frank warren, 13345 cooper ridge road, germantown, maryland, 20874).  each week frank selects a handful of the secrets to post on his site, and like a dependable friend with whom you share a weekly coffee date, they’re waiting for you every sunday morning. some are funny, some are sad, some are unimaginable, and some make you stop and think, “oh my gosh!  someone else feels that way, too?!”

i keep a folder of my absolute favorite secrets that have appeared on the page.  here are a few from my collection:

amelie is my all-time favorite movie/character, and when i saw this postsecret, i felt like someone had written it just for me.
so do i!!!!

yes!  yes!  YES!
my dog winks at me, too, and ever since i read this secret, i wink back.

i have one more saved on my work computer that i want to share — i’ll make room for it here and hopefully add it in tomorrow.  for me, the english major book worm, it really struck me.  not in a way that i’d do the same or can relate, but, i found it laugh out loud funny:

(added 3/29/11)

so, that’s what i’ve got for today!  enjoy your sunday!
